Tunisian guesthouses depend almost entirely on booking platforms — 15 to 18% commission per night, no direct relationship with the traveler, and an identity diluted into a catalog listing. Dar Zitouna is a case in point: a three-room family home that deserves better than a standardized listing page.
The palette was pulled from real photographs of the village, not a received idea of ‘Sidi Bou Saïd blue’ — hence the muted, broken blues, a slightly yellowed lime-wash white, and an amber drawn from the evening lighting. The logo takes its cue from the neighborhood's bilingual street signs: Arabic and Latin coexist from the outset, inside a double-rule frame. The Arabic typeface (Markazi Text) was chosen for its affinity with the Latin Cormorant Garamond. The site is trilingual FR/EN/AR with full RTL support — the entire layout mirrors, not just the text direction.
A four-step direct booking system, an identity that holds up across three languages, and a site where Arabic isn't a translation bolted on afterward.
